Currently sitting at a jaw-dropping $1.55 billion, there's no denying that Monday's Powerball jackpot is huge. But believe it or not, the latest jackpot is not even the largest one the Powerball has ever seen.
At an estimated $1.55 billion, the jackpot is close, but has yet not passed the $1.586 billion jackpot won by three winning tickets in California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016.
The largest Powerball jackpot ever was won in November 2022 by a single ticket in California, worth $2.04 billion.
The current Powerball jackpot has been building since July, when the winning ticket worth $1.08 billion was sold in Los Angeles.
If you're dreaming of the billion, there's still time to play: The next Powerball drawing is Monday, Oct. 9 at 10:59 p.m. ET. Drawings are every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
